Its barely been a month since one of our highest rated carriers announced huge breakthroughs on cancer life insurance underwriting. With some cancers they did away with the one year waiting period post treatment, instead opting for a more aggressive approval suimmediately upon completion of successful treatment. They also opened the door for approvals of prostate cancer watchful waiting.

I remarked when I broke that news that I was surprised it has taken insurance companies so long to get it.

Taiwan will tighten checks on beef imports over food safety fears surrounding a controversial additive used to promote lean meat, officials said. 

Several shipments of imported beef have been pulled from Taiwans shelves this year after they were found to be treated with ractopamine.

Treatment plans for diabetes patients questioned

A recent study issued by CVS Caremark finds physicians fail to consistently follow the recommendations of the American Diabetes Association (ADA). In 35 percent of cases reviewed, doctors did not adhere to the association’s consensus treatment guidelines.

In addition to potentially impacting the quality of care, CVS Caremark says ignoring the guidelines can also result in increased health care costs for insurers and patients.
